Chef Romero learned all the secrets about cooking from his family, particularly his grandmother who spent a large part of her life in Gandia (Valencia).  It was very much their times together that made an impact -as they would gather around the paella and watch each step of her cooking process.  He saw how that precious time brought the family and their friends together and he wanted to be able to transform that passion for sharing memorable moments with others through food.

In 2017,  under his direction, Social Paella placed 1st for Best Freestyle Paella in the 3rd annual Los Angeles Paella, Wine & Beer Festival. He traveled to Valencia to compete in the 57th annual International Paella Valenciana contest where he took 4th place. Other awards include: Best Paella Valenciana at the 2017 San Diego Paella & Wine Festival. 2nd Best Free Style Paella at the 4th Paella Festival in San Diego, CA in 2018.
